Why I became a Mason
My parents died before I returned from Vietnam. My grandfater lived to far away to be helpful but offered this to me: "You're too young to carry that responsibility by yourself, anytime you have a problem with anything, family, business or personal, call me and I'll give you the principle(s) you need to make the right decision but I won't give you the answer."
Year's later, the day before he passed, he asked if I would become a Mason. He said the principles and values he gave me for more than 25 years were from Masonry and the Bible. I immediately agreed.
Years later I met my wife and before we were married, I asked if she would be O.K. with me becoming a Mason. I told her I didn't know how but I wanted to become one.
Six months or so after we were married I told her I wanted to act upon my idea to become a Mason. She said,
"Call my dad, he's been a Mason for over 40 years."
