Cadillac ELR

Here comes the future of luxury automobiles.  Cadillac will manufacture this beautiful 2011 ELR.  This is an all ELECTRIC vehicle.  My wife and I saw this at the Los Angeles auto show and it was a hit even then.  It’s great to see that a great mark like Cadillac is once again becoming the “Standard of Excellence.”

My wife and I are both committed to Cadillac.  In my wife’s case, she’s had a 32 year long relationship.  My own is now 17 years. With a bit of luck, this may even be my next car.

Site note: Every once in awhile you run across wisdom that is so spot on you feel compelled to say or do something.  Have you ever heard of Charley Reese?  Neither had I until a few minutes ago when a friend of mine sent me an email.  I checked the facts here.

If you’d like to also have an ah-ha moment, please, read on:

Meet Charley Reese.  He was a journalist for 49 years.  As far back as 1985 he had a theory about the simplicity of government.  We often think of government as being huge and they (the government) are responsible for our lot in life.  That may be a true statement but when you break down the numbers, it looks like the finger should be pointed at us.  What do you think?

This is about as clear and easy to understand as it can be…  The article below is completely neutral, neither anti-republican nor democrat.  Charlie Reese, a soon-to-be- retired reporter for the Orlando Sentinel, has hit the nail directly on the head, defining clearly who it is that in the final analysis must assume responsibility for the judgments made that impact each one of us every day.  It’s a short but good read.  Worth the time.  Worth remembering!

By Charlie Reese

Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.

Have you ever wondered, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, WHY do we have deficits?

Have you ever wondered, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, WHY do we have inflation and high taxes?

You and I don’t propose a federal budget. The President does.

You and I don’t have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does.

You and I don’t write the tax code, Congress does.

You and I don’t set fiscal policy, Congress does. (more…)

CHANGE

A wise man once told me, “When you’re through changing, you’re through.” Every time you think that things, friends, circumstances, etc are just the way you like them, it may be time to change.

How many of you remember when men 60+ and right up to their passing loved those one piece jump suits.  I referred to them as bib overalls for the non-working class.  Those and white shoes were all the rage.  Styles and the times changed, but their fashion sense never did.  Instead, they took the position that as Popeye said, “I am who I am.”

It’s probably not that type of change that we should be talking about but it does illustrate the point.  Perhaps we should look at computers, cell phones, the Internet and the whole host of technology changes that have occurred over the past 35 years.  The point is still the same.

In my youth I asked a childhood buddy to help me move.  He said, “I don’t do that.” I was hurt and offended.  It took be a few years but I finally understood the lesson.  I didn’t need to change my thinking or change out my friend, I needed to accept his thinking, opinions, etc and recognize that it’s who he is.  Since, I’ve looked at friends much differently.  They are who they are.  Some will change over time.  Some may not.

My best friend, without question is my wife.  As I review what we’ve both done over the years, it’s easy to see that we’ve both changed.  Hopefully she sees my changes for the better.  I see her changes in this way, “She just keeps getting better!”

The lesson here is simple:

When you’re through changing, you’re through.

What do you think?
